I tried a number of products from Joe's Toes, including the suede slipper sole. My last slippers were knitted ankle boots using a double felt sole and the waxed thread.
There are lots of cheap hacks you can deploy to create your knitted slippers but I keep coming back to Joe's Toes products for a number of reasons:
- quality: at home we make a mistake of nipping out onto the patio in our slippers which unfortunately speeds up the process of destroying the sole. Having said that, making the same mistake in a simply knitted sole would see our slippers disintegrate much, much quicker. It took me over a year to wear out the felt soles on my current slippers, and it is only the outer sole that I've worn out.
- design - I love the colours :)
- convenience - prefabricated holes make sewing soles onto the slippers hassle free and you end up with an even edge. I would recommend Amanda's YouTube video on her method of attaching the soles. I've now adopted that method.
A word on sizing: make sure you check the actual length of your intended wearer's foot against the size. Don't go by standard sizing labels or you might end up with a size which is too big.
The combination which has worked the best so far on my projects has been a felt sole + a suede sole. At some point I will try the vibram sole.
This slipper kit arrived really quickly. The materials used were fantastic quality and the instructions were easy to follow. It took me no time at all to whip up a great pair of snuggly slippers, and I'm looking forward to wearing them. Ordering more soon!
I received my beautiful thick wool felt very quickly thank you.
I wanted soles for a pair of knitted slippers but never found any that were suitable until I came across Joe's Toes. These ones are ideal and arrived sooner than I expected. Having seen the range on offer and the choice of colours I will be ordering more.
Arrived on time well packer and as described - love the badge pins. Thank you
