| SOLE SELECTOR - choosing the best sole for your project |
| We make all the soles in our own workshop in sizes from newborn baby to adult 14 (US 15). All soles come with stitch holes pre-punched as standard for easy stitching. We ensure the holes are always in the same place so soles can easily be added or replaced at any time. If you would prefer your soles without stitch holes just add a note when you order. |

| Felt soles |
Thick wool felt soles. 4.5mm thick (almost 1/4"), This thick woollen felt is made especially for us in 10 glorious colours. We also have a Vegan-friendly option 100% recycled fibres. |
Soft, good cushioning, good insulation, washable as wool. |
No grip, making it less suitable on hard floors (unless you want to skate!) |
Top layer soles, (i.e. against the foot) and soles where no grip is required. Ideal for pre-walker baby soles. Also for mid layers where extra cushioning is required. |
| Felt soles with latex grip |
These are the same felt soles with a liquid latex painted on and worked deep into the pile. |
All the features of our felt soles with the added benefit of a bit of grip and extended wear resistance on hard floors. |
The latex paint offers a moderate amount of grip, sufficient for most slippers. |
Bottom soles (i.e.facing towards the floor). Dry environments. Great on wet-felted slippers and any of our slipper designs. |
| Vinyl soles |
Thin, flexibleand waterproof. We currently have two textures; "leather look" faux leather finish and "linen look". |
This sole option which adds a waterproof layer with resaonable grip. We typically layer this up with our felt soles. |
Man-made material so less eco-friendly. Less hardwearing than suede or rubber soles. |
Ideal for slipper socks, toddler and childrens slippers and adding a grippy layer to anything that needs to be washed. |
| Suede soles |
Soft "drapy", flexible and strong, Sourced only fron an Italian tannery with an excellent environmental record. 1.4-1.6mm thick. |
A hard-wearing natural material with a reasonable grip (akin to barefoot).The tanning process is carefully controlled to prevent pollution of water sources. |
Not recommended for frequent washing. |
Bottom soles - facing towards the floor. Dry environments. Great on wet-felted slippers as the suede will mould to the slipper shape. As an addition to felt soles on any of our designs. These also make a luxuriously comfortable top layer - especially for anyone allergic to wool. |
| Vibram Rubber soles |
Thin, (just 1mm thick), flexible and waterproof with a very good grip. We buy only genuine Vibram, made in Italy. Hard wearing. |
Ideal soling for shoes and sandals as well as slippers. Hardwearing and waterproof, with an excellent grip on virtually all surfaces. |
Not recommended for frequent washing but can be wiped clean. |

| Crepe Rubber soles |
Natural crepe rubber 2-3mm thick with very good grip on most surfaces. This traditional soles has a pleasant natural appearance. |
Ideal soling for shoes and sandals as well as slippers. Waterproof ard-wearing with a very good grip on most surfaces. |
Not suitable for washing but can be wiped clean. Liable to stick to itself if it becomes hot. |

| Grippy Dot Fabric |
Sold only in A4 size sheets (8.3 x 11.7 inches) Woven polyester base covered in small grippy dots. |
Adds good grip, ideal for repairing slippers with this type of sole. Easy to sew. Machine washable. |
Only available in black. Unlike our other materials it cannot be left with a raw edge as it will fray. Not waterproof. Man-made material. |
Ideal for repairing slippers with this type of sole, adding a slip resistant sole to sewn slippers, sleep suits and as a grippy base for door stops and other projects. |
